Beth Moran
Senior Bid Writing Consultant/Senior Editor
Beth initially worked as a biochemist, then spent several years in adult education before starting out as an author, and joining Silverlock as a bid writer. Beth’s first novel, entitled “Making Marion”, won the top General Fiction award at the international INDEFAB book awards. Beth is also a conference speaker and trustee of the national women`s network Free Range Chicks.
Rachel Crookston
Senior Voluntary Sector Consultant
Rachel specialises in fundraising for smaller charities and churches. She began her career in community development, and knows first hand the tensions of working in the third sector, and pressures of short-term contracts. Rachel spent many years in the Civil Service, with roles that included assessing funding bids and local strategies. She is married with 2 children, is chair of a large allotment site and likes to spend time with people in her community.
Nicola Robbins
Bid Writing Associate/Editor
Nicola has been an Associate Bid Writer for Silverlock since 2014. Prior to this she worked for more than 10 years in the PR industry, devising and implementing communications campaigns, including four years at the Home Office, providing media handling advice to the Home Secretary. Following six years as a Chair of Governors she currently works with schools to help improve their communications and social media presence. She is married with three children, and loves to run in the Hertfordshire countryside where she lives.
Maggie Lynch
Bid Writing Associate
Maggie has been an associate bid writer for Silverlock since 2014. Prior to this she spent 15 years in IT at Experian, followed by time at home with her three children. She currently invigilates at a local school, volunteers at Nottingham family Court, and works at an Oxfam bookshop. She is studying for an Open University degree in Physics, Astronomy, & Earth Sciences, and enjoys spending time in London.
Sylvia Oates

Sylvia has worked at a senior level in management, marketing and PR within the leisure industry for over 15 years, for both large corporates and SMEs. Sylvia is an experienced company director, freelance project manager, mentor and consultant to a wide mix of public and private sector clients. She has an excellent track record of building relationships and engaging audiences in many different ways, and is passionate about supporting companies to flourish.
Jo Cox-Brown

Jo is an experienced director with a track record of successfully working with start-up businesses and those facing turn around. She loves helping businesses achieve growth and visibility. She has worked in marketing for blue chip companies such as Microsoft, Unilever and Mars and has over 19 years’ experience in creative writing to engage a variety of audiences. She has secured tenders and grants from major donors’ worth over £5 million.
Jane Wallace
Bid Writing Associate
Jane is a copywriter with more than 25 years’ experience working in central and local government communications, as well as numerous private and voluntary sector organisations. Her writing has appeared in publications ranging from The Sunday Times and Construction News to books about National Trust properties and Instagram interiors. In her spare time she enjoys travelling around Scandinavia and linocut printing from her kitchen table.
Sarah Hopkins

Sarah spent 20 years working in the Education sector before joining Silverlock as a bid writer. She is married with 2 grown up daughters. Sarah volunteers for a local charity that works with vulnerable women in Nottingham and in her spare time she enjoys painting and singing.
Kay Wainman

Kay is a public sector housing professional and member of the Chartered Institute of Housing. She has worked in public sector housing for over 20 years where she managed housing services for local authorities and a large Housing Association. Kay enjoys singing and is Chair of a Nottingham based charity that works with vulnerable women.
Louise Third, MBE
Bid Writing Associate
Louise is a business communications consultant, writer, speaker and charity campaigner. Ten years working on government-funded start-up programmes led to a further twenty years in public relations for numerous B2B clients and national business support organisations. Louise was editor of Business Adviser magazine for the Institute of Business Advisers, and as a charity Trustee is a hardy funding bid-writer. Her spare time is spent Nordic Walking and gardening.
Kerry Ferguson

Kerry has 20 years’ experience in the public and non-profit sectors in research and policy roles, including 10 years at a large city council writing reports and briefing papers for councillors and senior managers, and 3 years developing EU funding programmes in the civil service. Kerry likes running, volunteering with a refugee project and studying part-time for a Masters in Politics.
Luke Murray
Consultant
Luke has almost 20 years experience across Local Authority, Health and Voluntary sectors. He led the design and submission of a successful bid for £45m of Lottery funding, before then leading the set up and management of that programme. He holds Prince 2 and MSP qualifications, and is a graduate of the NHS Leadership Academy. With a background in data, policy and strategy he’s worked alongside universities such as Oxford, LSE and Warwick to design and commission evaluations.
Richard Hughes

Richard Hughes has been working in procurement since 2004 with a particular focus on helping the public sector. He has extensive experience of working as a category manager across all levels of the public sector. Richard has been a full member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply Chain Management since 2010.
